I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with Supervisory Designation (LPCC-S) with the Ohio Counselor, Social Work and Marriage Family Therapist (CSWMFT) Board. LPCC-S are the only license that is authorized by the Ohio State Board to provide training supervision to Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC) Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCC) & Counselor Trainees (CT). An LPCC-S is also able to supervise an MFT & LSW for work supervision; this type of supervision is not counted towards supervision training hours.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in the Social Sciences with a concentration in Psychology from Hiram College in 2000. I decided to stay home with my two children before earning my Masters of Education in Clinical Community Mental Health Counseling from Kent State University in 2009. Post graduate school I earned my LPCC-Supervisory Designation @ John Caroll University in 2016.
I bring over 11 years of experience working in numerous levels of care and specialize in working with with later adolescents via adulthood individuals and couples (premarital, marital, significant others/intimate relationships, parent-child and sibling relationships). I have specialized in working with folks struggling with depression, anxiety, anger, other mood disorders, relationship problems/challenges, communication issues, low-self esteem, adjustment issues, attention deficit, work/school stress, social issues, and many other life challenges.
My therapeutic approach is skilled, easy-going, empathic, engaging, and direct when appropriate and is guided with warmth and curiosity at the same time exploring your needs and goals. I offer an attentive ear, humor, experience, and my unique therapeutic perspective to help work though the problems at hand.
Currently, I provide therapy to individuals and couples from later adolescents via adulthood in a private practice setting with relationship issues, communication issues, depression, anxiety, anger, other mood disorders, low-self esteem, adjustment issues, attention deficit, work/college stress, social issues, and many other life challenges.
I utilize a wide variety of evidenced based strategies, such as, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-focused therapy, insight-oriented therapies, Strength-based strategies & Relaxation techniques to help clients process experiences/problems, decrease & manage adverse symptoms, get a fresh perspective on issues/problems, and improve coping skills and self-care.
In addition to loving my work, I have been married for over 25 years, greatly value spending time with family, my dog, friends, enjoy the outdoors, walking, experiencing new places, connecting to people, learning and I Iove to laugh.
